Meaning of the stamping: In this painting the gods welcome the nierika (mandala) of fire. They surround him and greet him. A nierika is a circular door that opens to another world. The Huichol say "The sacred fire is called Tatewari" he is the marakame of ancient times, the patron of all shamans, the one who burns our bush, who cooks our food, he helps us hunt the deer and he is the peyote. He is at the side of the shaman when he is healing and his feathered messengers. Like the shaman's feathers, the muwieri, they are sensible, sensitive, animated and able to speak and act.
